PD Online Workshop: Building a Strong Foundation: Proactive Parent & Family Partnerships
What is the most accurate predictor of academic achievement? It’s not socioeconomic status, nor how prestigious the school is that a child attends. According to the Parent Teacher Association Building Successful Partnerships: A Guide for Developing Parent and Family Involvement Programs, the best predictor of student success is the extent to which families encourage learning at home and involve themselves in their child’s education. This session focuses on six strategies that encourage reflection and strategic planning. It is designed to help leaders shift from hosting random events to learning how to develop a strategic approach to improve their family and community engagement efforts.
Objectives:
By the end of the session, participants will have the necessary tools to develop a strategic family and community engagement plan to foster academic success. This session will help schools identify and connect with community partners as a key strategy for success.
