Trust-Based Relationship Intervention (TBRI) Course (3/27-5/1)
Course Description:
This course will begin with an overview of TBRI (Trust BasedRelational Intervention) TBRI ® is an attachment-based, trauma-informed interventionthat is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI ® usesEmpowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachmentneeds, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention isbased on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, theheartbeat of TBRI ® is connection. We will then each pick a student we are currentlyworking with to apply strategies we learn. We will come together to discuss our findingsand assess what we will do next. Teachers will actively engage with each other during classtime but also be reflective as the week goes on and ready to apply tricks and techniques forconnection!Course

- Apply TBRI strategies to improve connection with difficult students and families
- Teach students how to empower themselves to use good words instead of behaviorsto get their needs met in healthy ways
- Proactively teach strategies to disarm fear helping students to choose healthybehaviors in the difficult moments.
- Design instruction to promote student relationships
- Utilize technology for instruction and communication.
- Create an effective classroom management plan to reflect individual student needs
- Engage in self-evaluation and professional goal setting for student and familyrelationship
- Deepen professional relationships with fellow teachers, students, administrators,and parents
- Reflect and share individual practices and be open minded and willing to try newideas
